Use this self-help guide to choose the best
Koenders Pond Aeration System for you.

What is your pond used for?

Is your pond for raising fish, a water source for livestock, irrigation, or recreational purposes? Koenders has wind, electric, and solar aeration options. If you are raising fish, we recommend 24/7 aeration with one of our electric aerators. For any other type of pond, one of our windmills will get the job done.

How big is your pond?

The width and depth of your pond are part of the equation. If your pond is shallow, up to 6’ deep and approximately 50’ by 50’, our LD 1.5 Electric Aerator is perfect. For larger, deeper ponds, we recommend one of our HD Electric Aerators. Two Airstone Diffuser Kits are a good idea if your pond is shallow, less than 8 to 10′ throughout the area of the pond. Each Airstone diffuser can be regulated with a 2-way selector valve.

What type of climate do you live in?

Koenders aeration systems are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. Our windmills will turn at wind speeds of just 4.83 kph to 8.05 kph (3 to 5 mph), and have a pivot tube that changes the direction of the windmill head if it is very windy. If you live in an area where the temperature goes below freezing, you can add our Freeze Control Unit to keep air flowing. Constant aeration helps prevent icing near the Airstone Diffuser.

Do you also need to pump water?

We have Solar Water Pumps and Solar Aeration Systems. Water Pumps can be attached to our Koenders Windmill Aeration Systems with an optional solar rack mount. These solutions are ideal if your pond is in a remote area where electricity is not available.
